Alpenglow on the Torres del Paine, Chilean Patagonia
The one thing I remember when I was making this image was how quickly the colour of the sun changed on the magnificent vertical spires of the Torres del Paine (Towers of Paine - approx 2,500m). I could actually see the colours changing before my eyes. The sky began to glow bright pink to compliment the granite being warmed with the first faint rays of the day. You can tell by the snow on the rocks on the left hand side that the air was freezing. The lake was also half frozen over and I distinctly remember the unique sound the ice was making as it began to melt and crack. I was the only person here on this unforgettable morning.
